It is exactly 10 years ago, that we met Haruyo and Shigeru Morimoto for the first time. In August and September 2008 we made a study on organic tea production in China, and before returning to Europe, we made a stop in the very south of Japan. We travelled to Miyazaki with the train, and in the afternoon met Haruyo and Shigeru Morimoto, and also the younger of their both daughters, Tae Morimoto.
In the coming years the partnership between Morimoto and Marimo grew further and further, and the Morimotos developed a lot of new sorts of tea exclusively for our customers and us. For the 5th year of this unique cooperation, Morimotos made the gyokuro-like kabuse tamaryokucha “GO EN” for the first time, which became an important as well as rare tea in our assortment since this time. A long (around 2 weeks) shaded kabuse tamaryokucha from the cultivars Oku Midori and Minami Sayaka.
Now, it is already 10 years, since this wonderful partnership with the Morimotos began! 10 years Morimoto tea in Europe. Let us celebrate this notable anniversary with a beautiful new tea from Haruyo and Shigeru Morimoto: The MORIMOTO TAMAMORI.
For the Morimoto Tamamori, Haruyo and Shigeru Morimoto shade [kabuse] the bushes of the single variety Oku Midori for around one week. After harvest the production is done without using the sencha-machines. Thanks to this production, the shape of the leaves stays round, as it is typical for a tamaryokucha. The taste is soft and mild, thanks to the shading, the character of the Oku Midori, and thanks to the Tamaryokucha-production, which does not drop pressure on the leaves, like it is the case for sencha-production.
Just enjoy this tea!
